Share: On Friday, March 16, 2026 art and cultural organizations all over Pasadena came together at Pasadena City Hall to share art in all its form with the community during cultural event ArtNight. Art is an activity everyone has done before, in some shape or form. Whether it was scribbling with markers as a child, dancing alongside friends on a night out, or singing your heart out to your favorite song on the radio; art is all around us. In Pasadena, for two days every …
From rubble and ruins to cars and coffee, Altadena recovers
Share: Every Saturday, in the parking lot of Altadena’s Bulgarini Gelato, rows of unique cars line up in the early morning. From bright orange Toyotas to neon yellow porsches— even a firetruck, car owners and enthusiasts alike come together to grab a cup of coffee and join in on a car meet. On Sat. March 7, Altadena Cars and Coffee celebrated their 1 year anniversary. When passing by the parking lot, it may look like a regular car meet, but to many it’s more. “I …
‘Third Act’ is a touching tribute to Asian American life, cinema, and family
Share: When director Tadashi Nakamura took the stage to introduce the screening of his film “Third Act” in the Westerbeck Recital Hall, the first thing he asked was for everyone to close their eyes. “Picture a loved one who is unable to be here sitting next to you,” he told the audience. “Then take a deep breath in, and a deep breath out. Now open your eyes.” Nakamura’s request was more than an emotional palate cleanser before a hard-hitting movie. “Third Act” itself is a …
Rustlers round up, ride off with double-digit win over Lancers
Share: Coming off a 4-game win streak, the Lancers were feeling unstoppable, winning by a combined score of 56-18, with 3 out of 4 games having double-digit runs scored. But Golden West came to Jackie Robinson Field with Mike Tomlin, “we do not care” energy. On the hot March 17th afternoon, what looked to be a matchup between two powerhouse teams with potential to light up the scoreboard was only a flicker. The Rustlers didn’t wait long to get on the scoreboard, hitting a home …
PCC women’s basketball defeated by Palomar after return to playoffs
Share: PCC women’s basketball was defeated in the playoffs by Palomar in the first round with a score of 78-40, after qualifying for playoffs for the first time since the 2023-2024 season. The Lady Lancers have come a long way this season after having to battle with only 6 players on the court, as well as an unexpected rearrangement of coaching. Despite the challenges, the women’s basketball team bounced back from a 5-22 record last season to a 14-15 record this season, including making their …
‘Undertone’ leaves audiences fearful of everything they hear
Share: A horror movie that decides it is going to challenge themselves by having a peculiar style and approach to their film can be risky. “Undertone” is a film that prioritized focusing on toying with viewers’ auditory senses rather than their visual ones. The film’s delivery has moviegoers in suspense throughout the movie, leaving people in the theater double guessing every tiny sound heard. The film instills this deeply eerie and unsettling feeling with the topics it covers, ranging from religion, illness of a loved …

Share: Pasadena City College and Lancer Care Basic Needs hosted its first ever annual Basic Needs Wellness Fair in the quad on Tuesday, March 24, providing ample opportunities to explore ways to help students. From housing to mental and public health resources, as well as food benefits …
Trump’s endorsement of Jake Paul continues America’s circus
Share: Donald Trump endorsed YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul at a rally that leaned more towards amusement than professionalism. The announcement was confusing, as throughout Paul’s many careers, he’d never mentioned becoming a political figure, yet his history of attention-seeking doesn’t make his political turn a surprise. The spectacle was highlighted by Trump’s focus on Paul’s boxing career rather than explaining why he received an endorsement. It reflects a bigger shift in politics, now being viewed more as entertainment rather than improving the country. This administration is …
LA Marathon: Finish strong or finish second
Share: Sports are competitive, no matter what the mindset is. The LA marathon on March 8th was no different. During the final stretch, Michael Kamau was run down by Nathan Martin, who was able to beat Kamau by just 0.18 seconds. Victory for Martin was deserved since he put in the effort to finish strong when victory was in sight, unlike Kamau, who thought he could enter cruise mode to the victory line. This is an important lesson for athletes to either empty the tank …
Swap party turns one person’s trash into another person’s treasure
Share: Last week, students gathered under tents to avoid the heat wave, only to find rows of tables full of clothes and trinkets. The event was hosted by ASPCC’s bi-annual Swap Party, allowing students to exchange gently used goods for other ones donated by their peers. Each table displayed a variety of goods, showcasing books, hygiene products, shirts, pants, decorations, and stationery, among other things. The most popular section was the clothes, featuring a variety of sizes, dresses, and even costumes. Another was the books …
