With the large variety of sports PCC has to offer, the methods undertaken by athletes to stay in shape in their respective sport’s offseason do not differ much from one other, from dietary habits to amount of exercise.
So what do athletes do to stay in game shape when not competing?
After a roller coaster ride of a season in 2010, this year’s PCC football team continued to struggle but began working on its game armed with a new head coach in Fred Fimbres.
Student athletes are typically faced with extensive academic requirements in order to maintain eligibility to play sports for the college. At PCC, special academic counseling for athletes is offered in the Athletic Zone.
The men’s basketball team went 2-1 in the Kennedy and Associates Thanksgiving Tournament over the weekend.
The women’s cross country team placed 10th in the State Championships in Fresno on Nov. 18.
Women’s volleyball team ended the season and Sophomore Night with a 3-0 win against Los Angeles Trade Tech on Nov. 16 in PCC’s Hutto-Patterson gymnasium.
The women’s basketball team lost the Veterans Day Classic over the weekend.
Michael Jordan was known to wear his University of North Carolina, basketball shorts underneath his Bull’s shorts during every game as a type of good luck charm. Here at PCC, athletes also believe in employing superstition in order to have a good game.
The Lancers put up a good fight during the Homecoming Game against the eighth ranked team Mount San Antonio College at Robinson Stadium on Nov. 12, but came out short with a final score of 27-14.
PCC’s men’s basketball team never trailed in their home opener win over the visiting Jaguars of Southwestern College.
Nov. 14ths 67-60 victory came by way of the Lancers’ dominating the glass, and dishing out more assists.
