The Lancers’ Cheerleading and Dance department held tryouts on May 24-27 in the W building.

Siria LoVett, cheerleader coach for nine years, encouraged new and returning cheerleaders to audition for the squad.

Although PCC has never had a competition squad, LoVett is hoping to build a squad to compete against other schools. She encourages the women to take a gymnastics class to learn how to tumble, perform handstands, and work on cartwheels.

In a few months, three PCC athletes will travel abroad to compete in the 2011 Pan-Armenian Games in the Republic of Armenia.

It was an up and down year for the Lancers with some teams finishing on top of PCC’s South Coast Conference, while others struggled and were unable to find their groove.

PCC quarterback Eldrin Jones and cornerback Derek Mack have been selected Players of the Week in the National Northern Conference by the Southern California Football Association, after the Lancers’ 31-28 victory over Bakersfield on Saturday.Jones threw for 199 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions, on 18-of-24 passing, in being selected Offensive Player of the Week.

The PCC Cross Country team had a poor showing at the SoCal Peview in Bakersfield over the weekend.

The men’s soccer team put on a defensive showcase as they squeezed out their second South Coast Conference win against the Compton College Tartars at the El Camino-Compton Center on Wednesday.

Tuesday marked the beginning of the fall season for Lancer baseball as the team had their best first fall game under head coach Evan O’Meara, who is in his fourth season as head coach.
