The Board of Facilities discussed the new plans on projects that are coming to Pasadena City College within the next school year. As of November 18, The Sarafian Project remains on schedule since they just celebrated steel topping off milestone. Associated Students rebounds after ‘hectic’ summer
After election fraud hit the Associated Students (AS) back in June, resulting in decertification of the results, AS have been attempting to regain their footing by filling open positions on their Executive Board. There is still some work to do.

Associated Students had 30 students register to vote on Wednesday, October 17. The geology building is old and asbestos was identified. Construction on the geology building began six years ago. During construction, IT and AV improvements that would benefit students were brought to attention, and $60,000 was spent for the improvements. This increased the cost above the initial projections, along with changes made by the district, changes in time, unforeseen circumstances, or emissions from the architect. Following a delay caused by the earthquake drill, the intended start time of 10:30 a.m. was pushed back to meeting being called at 10:47 a.m. The board discussed how enrollment of Fall 2018 decreased by 3,100 comparing to Fall 2017. The transfer center has successfully transfered 280 students to UCLA signifying a substantial increase in acceptance from 25 percent to 27 percent. Academic Senate to support the lancer pantry
Special guest Vice President Dr. Terry Giugni presented a “vision for success” and a new “student-centered funding formula” for Pasadena City College. Highlights include increasing the number of degrees and certificates, increasing transfers to both UC and CSU institutions, decreasing the average number of units to earn an associates degree, as well as reducing equity and achievement gaps for students of all demographics. Funding would be based on enrollments and school sites, supplemental allocations (counts of low-income students), and the success of students attending PCC.
