With Valentine’s Day coming up, avoiding anything love-related has become quite challenging. From advertisements to window displays, love is in the air, and what better way to enjoy it than by embracing the holiday while watching romantic Korean dramas. Romantic comedies are just right for those seeking a light-hearted time filled with the cheekiness of a new relationship. Campus cadet corps enrollment down, but trend is reversing

In recent years, police recruitment numbers have diminished significantly at Pasadena City College as college enrollment numbers have decreased and national efforts to defund and disarm the police become increasingly popular.  “I will try to go out there, you know, I’ve gone to things like the Veterans Resource Center,” PCC police officer Tyler Robbins said. “If I have an opportunity to go to different groups and speak, then I try to recruit at those, or at least just get the information out there.” Police officers …

New spring mask policies divide PCC students

PCC recently announced that its indoor mask mandate will no longer be in effect for the Spring 2023 semester in a Nov. 28 email. These policies will instead be relaxed by having masking be strongly recommended rather than required in crowded indoor public spaces.  This announcement comes at a pivotal time as Covid-19 cases, hospital admissions, and deaths are trending upwards as a part of a winter surge across the United States in conjunction with the regular flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) seasons.  PCC …

Electrical damage in Lot 5 forces top floor closures until spring

Pasadena City College’s parking lot five is currently undergoing renovations due to electrical issues uncovered during a rainstorm in early November.  A rainstorm caused a brief power outage on a couple floors in lot five, exposing some deeper electrical issues on level four and five. The power outage led to the PCC officials’ decision to close the levels off for electrical renovation.  “There was a power outage that basically took a couple of floors offline. It came on all of a sudden during a rainstorm, …

‘Andor’ shines bright in a galaxy far, far away

Despite being announced in 2018, “Andor” was finally released on Disney+ on Sep. 21, 2022. The show follows Diego Luna’s character Cassian Andor in the years leading up to the film that originally introduced him, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”. To put it simply, this show kicks ass and is the best offering on Disney+. It’s enthralling, complex, and most of all, exciting. It’s the space political thriller I didn’t know I needed or wanted for that matter. Between its 12 episodes, the show …

Lancers volleyball knocked out of regionals by Grossmont in thriller

In an incredibly close game filled with skill and intensity, PCC lost to Grossmont in a 3-2 match last Tuesday. Losing this match kicked the Lancers out of the Southern California Regionals final. The team proved to be an efficient and hardworking team, and ultimately lost to Grossmont by only 4 points in the final set. “We were very predictable and kind of did the same thing over and over with the same result and didn’t make a change,” coach Mike Terrill said. “But, I’m …

‘Coexisting with the Cougars’ webinar advises humans on adapting to wildlife

Southern California harbors refuge for nearly 10 million people, yet we must not forget about the countless animal species who consider it their home too.  California Cougars are a majestic breed of mountain lion that has made their home in the California foothills for centuries. They continue to dwell amongst us and coexist despite the occupation of their territory. Unfortunately there are times when coexisting does not guarantee a harmonious liaison and there have been reports of unpleasant encounters between the two.  A non-profit organization …
