Share: Last week, Pasadena City College students performed Eve Ensler’s feminist play “The Vagina Monologues” for the second year in a row at the Westerbeck theater. The play was produced by PCC psychology professors Jennifer Fiebig and Jennifer Noble and performed by a cast of 38 empowering female students. The production included monologues in the spanish language and even included monologues of two students who told their stories of domestic violence. Black students redefine academia
Share: With over 500 chapters and 16,000 members, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) offers the largest student governed organization for black STEM students. This year, eight students from PCC will be attending the NSBE conference in Pittsburgh. The NSBE was established in 1975 by seven black students to create a community that was nonexistent during this time. Share: In light of the recent school shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, disability advocates have voiced concerns over emergency procedures in schools across the country that do little to consider the needs of disabled students. Although PCC’s emergency guidelines include considerations for students with mobility and sensory disabilities, questions remain as to whether more can be done to ensure the safety of disabled students during emergencies. PCC celebrates its diversity during Black History Month
Share: Black History Month celebrations were taking place all over PCC’s campus this past February thanks to the efforts of Ujima and Blackademia. With over 250 students in Ujima, and many more in the Blackademia program, there was no shortage of people celebrating African-American culture.
