Over the past few years, the interest in shopping at vintage and antique stores has increased steadily. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as vintage shopping can help people individualize their wardrobe and home decor while often costing less than brand-new pieces. And it’s sustainable!
Oftentimes people turn to websites or apps such as Depop or Facebook Marketplace for their secondhand shopping because of the convenience factor. However, many people prefer to go into an actual store so they can see the items in person and try them on if necessary, or for face-to-face interactions with the sellers.
Depending on where you live it can be difficult to find good antique and vintage stores, perhaps due to the scarcity of them in certain areas, or maybe because certain areas may not have exactly what you’re looking for. Fortunately for Pasadena residents, Pasadena is home to a wide range of quirky, eclectic vintage and antique shops. Whether you’re looking for cool vintage band tees or the perfect piece of antique furniture, Pasadena has it all! So without further ado, here are some of the best places in Pasadena to do your vintage shopping.
Founded in 1956, the independent, family-owned Canterbury Records is LA’s oldest surviving record shop. The store has a wide variety of new and used records ranging across all genres, so there’s something for everyone. The shop certainly does not, however, prioritize quantity over quality, as even their old records are often still wrapped in plastic and in excellent condition. The staff is also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and more than willing to help you in fulfilling your music-listening needs.

The Pasadena Antique Center and Annex is the largest antique and vintage center in Los Angeles, and a great place to find furniture, clothing, jewelry, art, and more. Unsurprisingly, this center is incredibly popular among design industry insiders, antique dealers, and filmmakers. In fact, two-time Emmy nominee and “Mad Men” set decorator Amy Wells identified it as one of her personal favorite thrift stores in Pasadena in an interview with the LA Times. “They have everything from Victorian to Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, and Palm Springs modern,” Wells gushed.
