PCC settles suit with former dean fired for allegedly violating hiring rules

Share: On March 13, 2025, former PCC Dean of Kinesiology Dyan Miller reached a $30,000 settlement from a lawsuit she filed against the school for financial loss and emotional distress after her termination.   Although a settlement has been reached between the school and Miller, this settlement is not an admission of any liability or violation of any law on PCC’s end. Pasadena City College’s spokesperson, Alexander Boekelheide, declined to comment on the matter, saying only that “the college will not have comment on this topic.” …

Trump is money-hungry, and his $5 million gold card proves that

Share: Just weeks after tightening immigration and conducting mass deportations, President Donald Trump has proposed a $5 million ‘gold card’ to replace the current EB-5 foreign investor citizenship, showing how utterly focused he is on status and money. Trump introduced this concept of a plan on Feb. 26, only about a month after his inauguration, when he signed executive orders that would restrict immigration and even attempted to end birthright citizenship, which is a constitutional right. This gold card seems contradictory to Trump’s immigration goals, …

Musk’s stupidity unites Trump’s cabinet against him

Share: Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has successfully sacked over 30 government programs in two months without any pushback from Donald Trump or Cabinet members, but after a tense cabinet meeting on March 7 with clashes between Musk and members, an implosion within the Executive branch is inevitable. During the cabinet meeting, Musk directly collided with at least two cabinet members over the number of employees they had fired from their departments. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy were both …

Billionaire bozo Bezos tightens his grasp on The Washington Post’s liberty

Share: Jeff Bezos has blatantly contradicted The Washington Post’s motto, “Democracy Dies in Darkness,” by altering the future content of the paper’s opinions page, censoring views opposed to his own, and imposing increased control. Bezos bought the prestigious publication in 2013 for a whopping $250 million, and since then, he has slowly instilled his viewpoints into the paper. Just last year, he shocked The Post subscribers by announcing that the publication would not endorse a 2024 presidential candidate for the first time in decades.  Many …

RFK Jr. worms his way out of measles vaccinations

Share: The U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Jr., a long-time voice of anti-vaccine statements, has finally acknowledged the importance of the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine but is still clearly beating around the bush when it comes to the deadly measles outbreak with the concerning statement that “the decision to vaccinate is personal.” In response to the measles outbreak that is currently severe in Texas, RFK Jr. acknowledged that the vaccine is “crucial to avoiding potentially deadly disease.” This statement, far from …

Food reduced to ash after Eaton Fire contaminates science village crops

Share: Before the effects of the disastrous Eaton fire, PCC’s science village was home to an aeroponic garden planted and cared for by Agricultural Plant Sciences (AGPS), Botany, and Environmental Science classes that would have donated crops to Lancer Pantry. However, contamination from the fire unfortunately destroyed the garden, leading to the crops being removed. The garden planned to provide fresh organic produce for Lancer Pantry, while the science village served as both a hub for various learning activities and a community space, fostering hands-on …

Referral-based counseling is out, caseload counseling is in

Share: PCC counseling has adopted a new counseling model this spring called community-based or caseload counseling, replacing the previous referral-based model.  This new model allows all students access to more counselors and appointments through PCC Connect, eliminating the need for a student service referral to make an appointment. Students have access to a network of counselors and advisors, called success teams, based on the community their major falls in, but they may also meet counselors and coaches outside of that community.  Majors are divided into …

Trump’s America is acting like Ukraine’s enemy

Share: It has been 3 years since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. While the U.S. has previously aided and supported Ukraine in the war, President Donald Trump has shifted gears to point fingers at Ukraine and its president, Volodymyr Zelensky, placing blame on him for this tragic bombardment. The war against Ukraine is the result of Russia invading the independent state due to the desire to capture what was formerly a dynamic territory of the Soviet Union before it declared independence in 1991. This is …

The ceasefire is dead and Netanyahu is the culprit

Share: Decades of tension and destruction have taken place between Palestinians and Israel, and while a three-phase, six-week ceasefire deal was reached to pause the fighting in Gaza, tensions have only increased as Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is seemingly deliberately damaging the agreements of the ceasefire, making many Palestinians wonder what’s next. This hostility was aggravated after the tragic Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel. Since then, a deadly conflict has raged on in Gaza, the strip of land that is Palestinian territory, with …
