Share: An anti-Semitic flyer was reported in Lot 5 on Friday, March 11 at PCC.  During spring break, President Dr. Erika Endrijonas sent out an email informing faculty that campus police were investigating an anti-Semitic flyer left on several cars in Lot 5 of the Colorado campus with little details. PCC students come clean about their dirty laundry

Share: As society attempts to return to in-person outings, PCC students are asked to venture out into a dirty world. While pajamas and sweats are okay to wear at school, it may be taboo at a student’s job, place of worship, and other public settings. Keeping up with a more extensive wardrobe can be expensive to maintain, require more planning, and challenge student’s time management skills. Until garment technology advances and we can buy self cleaning clothes, the struggle to sustain our closet goes on.  …

Talent can’t save Omar Apollo’s boring single

Share: Apollo enters on a guitar, with a soft strumming and emotional pattern sounding similar to song intros for bands like Weezer, Radiohead, or The Eagles, a feeling of distaste and repetition that every artist has already attempted before him. In today’s world of music, it’s best to get to the point, Apollo should have used the time to be different and exciting. His use of melodically familiar guitar riffs are an excellent tool for a song, but when done with little effort, it makes …

Even deranged racists like Joe Rogan deserve free speech

Share: Spotify paid Rogan a reported $100 million for an exclusive licensing deal in 2020 and has backed his stance on the guests allowed on his show and topics discussed, mostly. Employees and listeners have to ask themselves if their moral compass will enable them to support a company that would do so. For the most part, the podcast is entertaining for Rogan’s broad audience, who have followed his career from stand-up comedian, the host for the tv show ‘Fear Factor” and UFC announcer. With …

The Lancers lost both legs against the Palomar City College Comets at Robinson Park Saturday, January 29, 2022. Palomar beat the PCC, 9-1 and 15-5. The result did not discourage head coach Monica Tantlinger from believing in the Lancers in her …

Life hacks: A student’s guide to in-person learning

Share: Students resumed in-person sessions on Monday, Jan. 24, at Pasadena City College, and for many students dealing with the anxieties of day one in the middle of a pandemic can lead to several questions, but who should they ask?  Parking PCC has several student parking lots that, at the moment, are free of charge temporarily, not forever. Students would not know this since the parking lot daily permit machines are still accepting money, and the PCC website gives instructions on how to pay for …

‘Encanto’ captures the magic of family dynamics

Share: Most classic Disney movies are rooted in the idea of a damsel in distress. A princess unhappy with her current situation seeking a knight in shining armor to save her from misery. Disney seemingly stepped away from that format to provide their audience with a film that can be entertaining, culturally educational, and heartwarming in a time when hope and magic are needed. Like the 2016 film “Moana” which strays from the conventional lead female character but instead portrays a modernist independent-no-prince-princess, “Encanto’s” protagonist …
