The element of precision and speed was on full display throughout every match.  Following a disappointing ending to their 2023 season, the Lancers began their 2024 campaign firing on all cylinders, having a laser-focused mentality and an urge not to quit on any shuttlecocks.  The number of matches was cut in half from four to two as …

‘Boycott fatigue’ misses the point of boycotting Israel

Share: As the number of Palestinians killed in Israel’s bombardment of the Gaza Strip exceeds one in one hundred, calls to support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement are gaining new traction. Amidst this renewed interest, a contrasting sentiment has emerged—the concept of “boycott fatigue.” It is a position rooted in a place of privilege that devalues the power of boycotts and largely misunderstands what Palestinian civil society is asking of its allies. Despite common misconceptions, the BDS movement does not advocate for a …

Going green: a concept businesses can’t quite get the hang of

Share: Celebrities and social media stars are not the only ones abusing beauty-enhancing filters to escape imperfections–big companies have created eco-friendly filters to avoid their own flaws. This filter is better known as greenwashing. Organizations choose to spend more money on upholding their environmentally friendly status than making it a reality.  Greenwashing is a very harmful and lazy business tactic that will only create more damage to our planet. Real change to protect the planet and those in it is being delayed in exchange for …

Netflix Avatarnishes new adaptation

Share: Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” remake feels like a very genuine love letter written with largely inaccurate information about the recipient. It’s really difficult to fully hate this show when it’s clear so many people tried to make something truly special. From the cast’s infectious enthusiasm in the promotional material to the emphasis on staying respectful to the various real cultures the world of “Avatar” takes influence from, it’s a shame it was all in service to a result so painfully mediocre.  The notion …
