Coach Joseph Peron has led the women’s basketball team to over 500 victories and a championship while maneuvering over a myriad of obstacles and hurdles over the past 25 years. And even when COVID-19 stuck out its ugly face and postponed the season, he didn’t let it stop him. Covid-19 did not stand in between Peron and the new recruits this season.
Lancers loss still leads to playoffs
After the last home-game victory for the season was played on Wednesday night against L.A. Trade-Tech, the Lancers suffered a tough loss during Friday’s away game against Mt. San Antonio College, with a close 4-point loss that would make their journey into playoffs not as positive as was intended.
No sub, no problem for women’s basketball
The women’s basketball team plays from start to finish in a ‘no-sub’ spell due to dwindling numbers, pushing them to the brink in the 41st Gilcrest tournament. They finished in sixth place despite losing half their games, and they continue their fight today at the College of the Desert Winter Classic against Fullerton College.
Women’s basketball gets redemption and keeps playoff hopes alive
The Lady Lancers fell to South Region’s No. 2 Mt. San Antonio College last Wednesday 96-71 but successfully defeated Los Angeles Trade Technical College last Friday 58-51 to even the matchup record and move to third in the SCC-North standings.
Neutral party conducts second investigation into recruiting violations
Joe Peron, who has coached the women’s basketball team at PCC since 1996, is under a second investigation for violating the recruiting by-laws of the South Coast Conference.
Freshmen tandem leads Lancers into unfamiliar territory
Despite making the regional playoffs for the 14th consecutive season, the Lancers’ women’s basketball team will enter unfamiliar territory on Friday when they travel to play No. 7 El Camino College.
