The Lancers couldn’t contain the Allan Hancock Bulldogs offense, which gained 473 yards of total offense and defeated the Lancers 38-23 at Santa Maria on Saturday. Jonathan Troast started the game in place of Nick Ponce who is out with a thumb injury.

Troast passed for 194 yards and a touchdown. Troast’s lone touchdown came in the first quarter when he threw a 25-yard strike to Reuben Thomas.

The next two quarters were dominated by the Bulldogs who scored 24 unanswered points. Towards the middle of the third quarter Nate Montana entered the game.

On his first series he threw three straight incomplete passes. A punt was blocked to end the third quarter.

Acting Head Coach James Kuk wasn’t pleased with how the team performed on both sides of the ball.

“We struggled on offense and failed to move the chains. The defense gave up big plays through the air,” said Kuk.

Anthony Pines rushed for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Montana finished the game with 101 yards and a touchdown. Montana’s touchdown came in the fourth quarter when he connected with Reuben Thomas for a 20 yard touchdown.

Jeremy Aguilar led the team with 16 tackles and a fumble recovery. Roman Pula had 14 total tackles and also recovered a fumble. Julius Harris had 13 tackles, forced a fumble and intercepted a pass.

“We missed a lot of assignments and made alot of mental errors on defense. We’ve got to work harder on both ends of the field. We should have won that game,” said Aguilar.

Bradley Henderson was disappointed with the loss. According to Henderson the team always is in the game because of a great game plan.

“We had poor execution. We couldn’t finish drives. We know what we have to do. We will be successful when we stick to the game plan,” said Henderson. The Lancers are on bye week. The next game will be on Halloween against Moorpark at Robinson Stadium at 1 p.m.

According to Kuk the bye week couldn’t have come in a better time, with injuries and quarterback decisions to be made.

“We just need to heal. We have a lot of key injuries. We will use these next two weeks to evaluate all three quarterbacks. We will use this time to get mentally and physically recharged,” said Kuk.
