Share: Albums: Imaginal Disk – Magdalena Bay The Florida-originated, Los Angeles-based art pop duo may have already released their magnum opus with their sophomore effort “Imaginal Disk”. The entire tracklist oozes rich and creative melodies that utilize a unique palette of influences such as synth-pop, psychedelia, disco, and even genres that may not be easy to catch by the untrained ear, such as shoegaze and new age. The duo plays with an interesting visual aesthetic that could best be described as a mix of Frutiger …
‘Creature Commandos’ kicks off DC universe reboot with a graveyard smash
Share: “Creature Commandos” is a confusing, but nonetheless entertaining soft reboot in James Gunn’s new DC universe. The plot centers around Amanda Waller voiced by Viola Davis and Rick Flag Sr, voiced by Frank Grillo who are putting together a new team to work for the government after the events of “The Suicide Squad” and “Peacemaker” caused their operations to get shut down. This leads to Waller using monsters as a loophole for their new team dubbed “Task Force M” and sends the group reluctantly …
Student concerns persist following Lot 4’s recent elevator meltdown
Share: For weeks, the elevators in Pasadena City College’s Lot 4 parking structure have been malfunctioning, causing frustration for students and staff who rely on them to navigate the multi-level facility. PCC student Kacey Charbonnet lives with Patellofemoral pain syndrome in her left knee which creates irritation and pain when walking up flights of stairs. “It was a painful experience walking up the stairs,” said Charbonnet. “The elevators are very finicky and are inconsistent in their service,” Charbonnet decides to park on the 4th floor …
Students concerned about Trump’s threats to financial aid
Share: Donald Trump’s plans to dismantle the Department of Education (DOE) indicate potential reductions to financial aid, causing concerns for students. In the event of these plans following through, PCC’s Financial Aid Department would intend to pursue efforts to maintain financial aid for students. In a campaign video from September 2023, Trump declared his plans for the Education Department under Agenda47. “One other thing I’ll be doing very early in the administration is closing up the Department of Education in Washington D.C. and sending all …
Joe Biden’s pardon of his son is mired in hypocrisy
Share: Joe Biden’s recent pardoning of his son Hunter Biden for his federal tax evasion and illegal firearm possession is disgraceful and a stain to the democratic party. It is incredibly evident that Biden does not care for the integrity of his party or for himself anymore considering it is highly unlikely he will ever run for president again, it seems he just doesn’t care about his presidential promises now that he is exiting office. Hunter Biden was accused of illegally purchasing a firearm in …
PCC considers monthly salary program for low-income students
Share: The LACCD recently implemented the BOOST program meant to provide a monthly salary of $1000 for 12 months to 250 low-income students pursuing degrees in health to ensure they can finish their degree. This program or one similar to it could be incredibly beneficial for low-income students at PCC if implemented. Although community college is often a less expensive alternative to university, many students still have to concern themselves with working jobs while balancing their school work. This less time and focus on school …
My Territory: A Glendale church where I connect with my past (and future) self
Share: On Sunday morning, I wake up from my bed, pick up a long-sleeved shirt and jeans, and drive down to Glendale Presbyterian Church (GPC) off of Louise and Harvard Street. GPC is home to many communities in the Glendale area. It is also home to a Korean worship service that begins afterward. Because of Glendale’s inherent diversity, the church accommodates the Christian faith to as many backgrounds as possible. One feature of the church I like is the stained glass inside the church. What …

To combat these elevated levels of stress PCC has held a De-Stress week in which students had the opportunity to participate in activities that aided in lowering stress levels during this challenging part of the year. From the 2nd of December to the 5th …
Trump lied about Project 25 but welcoming all its goons into the White House
Share: Trump has likely lied once again, but the revelation is horrifying more so than it is obvious. This new lie of his revolves around Project 2025, a conservative wishlist written by various authors. The conservative initiative was published by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank that has rejected fighting against climate change, believes that the Black Lives Matter organization is a Marxist insurgency ploy, and has less than positive views on critical race theory. It isn’t too hard to understand why anyone who …
Kendrick Lamar shifts gears, starts the party on ‘GNX’
Share: Kendrick Lamar has never wanted people to dance more than on “GNX”. The album is Lamar’s sixth installment in an already colossally impactful discography. The year in itself has already been monumental for Lamar, as he has had victory lap after victory lap in regards to his beef against Drake which took place earlier in the year, with the public consensus primarily agreeing that Lamar had won. Add on to that, the cumulative diss track “Not Like Us” has turned into one of the …
