Artists unveil work to community
With museums, music venues and playhouses scattered throughout, there is no doubt that Pasadena has a vibrant arts scene, but for local artists, gaining recognition, even in a city so well-immersed in the arts, is no cakewalk.Keeping that in mind, PCC students Bonnie-Blue Delgado and Nicole Merritte, saw an opportunity to bring artists together and organized an art show entitled “Unveiling the Medium,” in which local artists gathered to share and indulge in various media of art at the Eden Bar and Grill in Pasadena on April 28.

Model U.N. encourages awareness of current events
The Model United Nations Club discussed current events in Libya on April 26, members participated in a U.N. – style conference to observe and talk about issues in the war-torn North African country.At the event students sat behind placards labeled as Qaddafi, Libyan People’s Liberation Front and various countries participating in the Libyan battle for independence, including the United States and France.

New soccer team makes PCC home field
The semi-professional Los Angeles based soccer team the Strikers will be using PCC as its home field for its inaugural season, starting May 14.Team owners Joe and Debbie Caracciolo chose Robinson Stadium because of the location and the stadium being able to fit the needs of the team, said Debby von Winckelmann, media relations.
PCC participates in May Day march
More than 15 PCC students witnessed dozens of police officers blockade thousands of demonstrators when they participated in the annual May Day march in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday. Waving signs and carrying a banner with “Students for PCC” painted on it, the group began the afternoon marching several blocks in the immigrants’ rights demonstration with what appeared to be a much smaller number of protestors than last year.
Softball welcomes facilitator to help develop players
Making his position official in January, the Lancer softball team welcomed Mark Kertenian as the new team facilitator designating him as the only one at a community college.
PCC receives largest donation in history
The largest donation in PCC history, $4 million was announced and celebrated by President Mark Rocha at a ceremony on Tuesday. Robert Westerbeck and his wife Adrienne, who died in April 2010, donated the money. The couple met at PJC when Robert was attending school and Adrienne was a faculty member teaching music.
