PlayStation network users were unable to access their accounts until Saturday. They now can, but with limited access.Although the culprits behind a hacked server remain unidentified and their intentions unclear, students at PCC are understanding and supportive of how Sony has been handling the situation.

Tired students find nooks to nap

A college student and eight hours of sleep have never been the best of friends and as the end of the semester dwindles down to an end, the sight of a sleep deprived student dragging into class has become common on campus.For many students who crave a quick catnap in the midst of studying, the challenge tends to be where to nap in comfort.

Dance presentation inspires crowd

The PCC Dance Department’s presentation of “Suite Seduction,” a collection of original commercial choreography by students, took stage in the Creveling Lounge over the weekend.The concert, directed by Catrelia “Rikki” Magee, consisted of several different solos and group pieces that encapsulated the audience and offered viewers insight into the sensual and sultry world of modern dance.

UCLA gives information to potential transfers

Blue-and-gold-topped tables dotted the quad on May 12 as PCC welcomed its annual campus visit from UCLA and students received firsthand information from the university’s representatives.”[UCLA day] gives to students direct information from [the school’s] different departments,” said Minnie Hightower, clerk of the Outreach and Transfer center who led in setting up the event area.

Veterans seek supplies for troops overseas

PCC veteran students will be collecting donations for care packages, to be distributed by Soldiers’ Angels to deployed soldiers, in the Quad from Monday through May 27, said Ricardo Martinez, president of the Veterans’ Club.Soldiers’ Angels (SA) is a volunteer organization that specializes in sending care packages to deployed military service men and women, said Martinez.

Trustee Mann elected president of state community college board

PCC Trustee Jeanette Mann was elected President of the California Community College Trustee Board at the board’s annual conference on May 1. Mann is currently the trustee for Area 2, and has been PCC’s board President numerous times.”It’s a little different than serving on the local board because now I have to look at issues from a statewide perspective,” said Mann.

Students await AS election results

Voting commenced on Tuesday for the new Associated Students representatives with the results to be announced on Friday.With new A.S. representation beginning in the summer semester, some students are eager to see change.”I voted because I feel it’s important to have a voice in any academic situation,” said physical therapy major Jordyn Orozco, 23.
