Badminton wins third undefeated conference title

Even with their top four singles players missing in action, the women’s badminton team finished off the South Coast conference season in style by easily accounting for hosts El Camino College-Compton 21-0 on Wednesday and also claimed their third undefeated conference title in the process with a 12-0 SCC record.

PCC track and field athletes competed at both the community college and university levels in the Mt. SAC Relays earlier this month. Once again the Lancers were led by freshman sprinter Alexander McElwee who made his name known among potential 4-year university suitors with his state-fastest time in the 400-meters.

Despite a fearless effort from sophomore second baseman Justine Zavala and freshman outfielder Yecenia Cardenas, the Lancers softball team was unable to keep their playoff hopes alive after losing 5-2 to El Camino College-Compton Center Tuesday afternoon at Robinson Park.

Baseball ends losing streak

The PCC baseball team came into Tuesday’s series opener against Mt. SAC on yet another losing streak. Losers of their last five in a row and nine of their last 10, the Lancers hadn’t scored a run in their last couple of games. Fortunately, that all changed on Tuesday, as PCC did just enough to win the ballgame 2-0.

Not only are the women’s badminton team gunning for a state title and are undefeated in the South Coast conference, but they have shifted the status of their rivalry with reigning two-time SCC champions and neighbors, the East Los Angeles Huskies with a 21-0 commanding win on Friday at home.
