Get ready to indulge in an album demonstrating a mix of futuristic beats with a throwback sound, as the newly released Black Eyed Peas album, The E-N-D (Energy Never Dies), will dominate mainstream music this summer. The sound of the album gives listeners a flashback to hits from the 1990s with a modern twist.

On the album’s third track, “Meet Me Halfway,” Fergie’s vocals, Will-I-Am’s rhymes and the innovative beat give the album a sound like a Pat Benatar collaboration with Kanye West.

The first single off the album, “Boom Boom Pow,” monopolized radio stations causing many who heard it to sing it throughout the day, whether you liked it or not. That song is just a taste of what the album has to offer.

The music has an energetic sound and you’ll find it hard to sit still. The beat starts to hit and without even being aware, you’ll start constantly head nodding and hand drumming to the rhythm.

“The Peas” continue to hold on to their traditional funk sound but liven it up by adding a robotic and electric feel by working with MSTRKRFT, David Guetta and Keith Harris.

People who like a variety of music will find this album surprising. The Black Eyed Peas connected each track and made it sound like a continuous mix that a Hollywood DJ would play at a popular nightclub. Yet each track has a different sound, making it like a mix of different genres of music.

As the tracks play, your ears journey through a sound of electronica, pop, dance-punk and deep house but still get a couple traditional Black Eyed Peas sounds thrown in, like the song “Imma Be.”

Some tracks can make even the most uncoordinated person turn up the volume and shake what their momma gave them. Other tracks have softer vocals backed with a fluid, catchy beat creating a hypnotizing sound.

The Black Eyed Peas know what their audience expects and enjoys. The E-N-D offers just that and more to create a unique sound in a field that is constantly changing.
