With big taste and even bigger burgers, The Counter brings to the table a massive array of toppings to choose from. The Counter is a franchise restaurant that puts a modern spin on the old-fashioned burger joint. The Counter touts over 312,120 different burger combinations, according to their website, each of which are sure to make your mouth water.

The amount of choices can be a bit overwhelming; it was slightly nostalgic of the SATs. For the indecisive person the menu offers signature burgers that are premade and sure to please.

Among these choices is a bonus for all of you vegans: The Counter offers a patty comprised of 11 different vegetables, according to the franchise fact sheet, and is sure to fill any hungry passersby.

“The food is very organic, natural, hormone free, and preservative free,” said Jason Keller, general manager of The Counter.

For the carb-conscious, The Counter offers an Atkins-friendly option, burger in a bowl, which presents an interesting alternative. The patty is placed on a bed of lettuce and covered with your choice of toppings and sauce.

The burgers explode with a nice flavor as you bite into them. The patty could stand on its own as an excellent meal but when paired with The Counter’s high quality ingredients it becomes a whole new force to be reckoned with, a force you will gladly wrap your hands around.

The Counter offers a creative way to put the consumer in control of his or her own eating experience. The ability to choose offers a meal for every diet and accommodates all who feel the hankering for a mighty tasting burger. The diners make their own burgers, which allows for the satisfaction of eating something they created.

“We try to make this a personal experience for our guests,” said Keller.

The Counter forgoes the boundaries of a menu and expands into the new age, an age in which the customer is always right, or wrong if you choose a poor combination.

“This is not fast food and we definitely don’t offer fast food prices but the food quality is outstanding,” Keller said.

Although The Counter offers a lot of freedom, no one said it would be cheap. The burgers range from around $8 to $14, and could be more if you want to add on premium toppings like bacon and mushrooms.

Keller said: “For the dollar that you do pay here you’re getting a tremendous value in return.”

The interesting part about The Counter that sets it apart from most burger joints, aside from all the choices, is that it weighs its meat after being cooked. This means that when you order a one-pound burger patty, you are actually getting one pound of meat. Usually a restaurant will weigh its meat prior to cooking, leaving you with something closer to two-thirds a pound of meat.

Furnished with industrial décor and colorful modern art, The Counter offers a lively environment and a unique crowd. Eaters at the restaurant range from young hipsters to elderly grandfathers, running the gamut of people in between.

Music has a strong presence in the restaurant and creates an atmosphere that can be enjoyed by many, regardless of musical preferences.

“The music is meant to be foreground music, not background music,” Keller said. “It’s meant to be heard.”

“We try to promote individual expression through clothing style, jewelry and personality,” said Keller. “Our intention is not to hire robots where everybody wears the same thing and everybody acts the same way.”

The staff is comprised of warm, inviting people who go out of their way to advise you on your choices and help in any way possible.

The Counter is a definite must-go for any burger connoisseur, as well as just about anyone who enjoys a good hearty burger.
