Fern Rojas, Features Editor

As Features Editor of the Courier, my role is to help shape our journalists into story-tellers by finding the fascinating true stories of our college and community. In Features, we have a chance to showcase the diversity and uniqueness of our student body by always paying attention to the humanity of each subject. My goal as both a writer and editor is to grow a deeper understanding of our shared experiences and public life, in myself and in our readers.
I’m a life-long resident of Southern California, proudly non-binary and Xicanx, and I started working with the Courier in the Spring of 2024. My first story here was covering a lucha libre wrestling event at a Pasadena school, so I’ve always been trying to capture the pulse of the city’s culture.
I got my start in journalism covering esports and professional video-gaming for TeamLiquid.net, and I have some published poetry floating around in the world somewhere.
