Students Screen Short Films for Departing Artist-in-Residence
Eileen Cowin, this year’s artist-in-residence, ended her stay at PCC by selecting students from all around the art spectrum to produce a series of short videos. The finalized projects were screened inside the PCC Art Gallery last Thursday. A mixed crowd of students, professors and artists, including Cowin herself, filled the small gallery to watch the one-time public screening of the 11 final video projects.
All-Star Game Honors Sports Legend Jackie Robinson
PCC hosted a celebrity basketball game in the gymnasium on Saturday as part of the Jackie Robinson All-Star Weekend. The basketball game was one of a few events planned for the weekend to commemorate the late Robinson and his surviving family, as well as the reconstruction of Robinson Park, on North Fair Oaks Avenue.
Badminton Falls at State Finals
PCC women’s badminton team had two players make it to the California Community College Athletic Association Individual Consolation semifinals on Friday. However, two more experienced players cut their success short on Saturday.
Smith Sprints to State Finals in 200-Meter Dash
The PCC Track and Field Team took five sprinters to the Southern California Finals at Mt. San Antonio College this weekend with one sprinter advancing to the state meet to be held at San Mateo College on Friday and Saturday.

At least 24 man hours, per day, is spent picking up litter, according to Director of Facilities and Engineering Services Richard van Pelt.If my calculations are correct, 24 hours is equivalent to one whole day. One whole day nonstop, spent picking up after people’s trash.Why? Because people are lazy.
Proposed New Student Fee is a Good Idea
The Associated Students and the Board of Trustees seem to agree that a $6 student activity fee poses as a surefire way to generate more cash in the AS budget. As soon as the College Coordinating Council agrees it’s a good idea, PCC students will have a chance to find out for themselves.
Award-Winning Athlete Rangel Excels in Two Sports
If freshman Marissa Rangel is a little confident, it’s with good reason. During the Lancer’s 20-19 overall season, she came through in a big way, batting .331 in conference games, leading in triples, playing center field with no errors, and stealing 10-of-12 bases.
Jackie Robinson Honored at Park Groundbreaking
PCC President Paulette Perfumo was among the guest speakers at the Groundbreaking Ceremony held at Robinson Park on Saturday. The ceremony was held to mark the beginning phase of a $24 million public works project to create a state-of-the-art sports and recreation facility, named after Jackie Robinson and his brother Matthew “Mack” Robinson.
