Fired former employees replaced amid realignment

Former Vice President of Administrative Services Richard van Pelt, and former Facilities Supervisor Alfred Hutchings – both under investiation in a bribery probe – were officially replaced on Aug. 29 when the Board of Trustees approved of an extensive realignment of the college’s executive cabinet.

Science Village provides a new home for the natural sciences

Due to the unsafe seismic condition of the U Building, the entire Natural Sciences Division has been relocated to Parking Lot 5A, which has been refitted with 36 newly built units including classrooms, laboratories, and faculty offices, and has been renamed the “Science Village”

Drastic budget cuts considered by Board

Job cuts, elimination of winter intersession and mandatory furloughs were discussed by the Board of Trustees on Wednesday as options for reducing expenditures by $10.5 million in the 2012-13 fiscal year. The options for drastic budget cuts were presented in a report from an ad-hoc subcommittee of the Board.
