Modernized classic returns 20 years later in ‘The Exorcist: Believer’

Share: Although “Exorcist: Believer” will never take the place of the original “Exorcist”, it is a very close second. The acting was top notch, the effects were spectacular, and the story behind how the possession came to be was fantastic. The director of this film, David Gordon Green, has quite a good amount of experience in the horror world. He was also the director of the reboot of “Halloween” in 2018, “Halloween Kills” in 2021, and “Halloween Ends” in 2022. While it was definitely a …

Student loan relief doesn’t ease the burden for borrowers

Share: Last year, I woke up to the most surreal news when President Joe Biden forgave my outstanding student loan debt and declared me almost debt free. This week I was reminded that 6 out of 9 people decided that was stupid and slapped me in the face with my debt again. Now after three years of payments being paused, millions of Americans are coming face to face with their student loans again, but some know their debt will never be paid off. For college …

Demon Doja and Lil Lucifer: Is satanic promo worth the fall?

Share: Upside down crosses, devilish tattoos, and demon talk- is it all an act for clicks and streams or is it authentic and genuine? Does it even really matter? These are the questions some singers and rappers in the music industry have been getting asked from fans for years.   Mainstream artists like Doja Cat, Lil Uzi Vert, and Playboi Carti took a mysterious turn towards a “satanic” appeal that are displayed in their music, performances, fashion, and social media, leaving their audience trying to figure …

Low crime continues at PCC, yet fear persists

Share: The Clery Act federally requires all colleges and universities to record and publicize specific campus crime statistics and safety policies. PCC’s Annual Campus Safety Report covers crimes reported on the main, Foothill, Rosemead, and PCC’s Northwest campuses. This year’s Annual Campus Safety Report shows nearly the same rate of low crime since 2020, a trend consistent since 2016 even considering the recent decrease in enrollment due to the pandemic.  Of reportable crimes, the largest numbers are mostly property theft. In 2022 across all four …

The $565 million Measure PCC bond to fund the plan was overwhelmingly passed …

Knott’s Scary Farm is not the universal pick for scary amusement parks

Share: It’s October! A Southern California fall means 80-degree weather with brown leaves and a little sprinkle of rain here and there but the excitement is consistent across the country for Halloween. A factor that is pretty much exclusive to Southern California is the mainstream amusement park options of Knotts Scary Farm and Horror Nights at Universal Studios. While these are both top tier choices, which one should be the go-to? Which amusement park can get you the most bang for your buck, which attractions …

Let ‘For All The Dogs’ out, and take it for a walk

Share: After a full season of teasing, Drake released his creative collection of recent albums with the highly anticipated “For All The Dogs” leaving me a little frustrated and unsatisfied, on the first listen. Coming in, it was difficult to know what to expect with this album seeing that the previous three gave a completely different vibe and went in multiple directions, but the consensus with most hip-hop fans was wanting the “old Drake”.  The project opened up with “Virginia Beach” a smooth and poetic …

‘Gen V’ proves teen dramas can be a bloody good time

Share: “Gen V” is a spinoff of the popular Amazon Prime television series, “The Boys,” based on the Dynamite Entertainment comic book by Garth Ennis. While “The Boys” initially felt like it was very loosely following the comic book storyline, it was always going in its own direction and has been veering away from the source material with each season. “Gen V” follows suit in that it takes an element from the comic book not yet explored in the T.V. series and recontextualizes it to …
