Gov. Jerry Brown’s tax initiative on the November ballot that could prevent community colleges from being devastated by budget cuts seems to be gaining support on campus. The proposed tax hike set to go before the voters would raise the state’s sale tax by 0.25 percent and impose a higher tax on the wealthy.

DSPSÂ helps disabled students with counseling, tutoring, training assistance with technology, liaison with off campus agencies and class accommodation assistance.

A former PCC student has been sentenced to the maximum prison term for killing his girlfriend and storing her body in a trash can filled with kitty litter.

Smoking areas to get revamp
The dismal three areas designated for smokers on campus are about to get a facelift. Immediate plans to upgrade the smoking sites were discussed Tuesday by the reconstituted Health and Safety Committee.

Board fires vice president of administrative services
The Board of Trustees voted Wednesday morning to fire Richard Van Pelt, vice president of administrative services. President Mark Rocha has also recommended the termination of Alfred Huthchings, supervisor for Facilities Services.
