About 60 people gathered at the Memorial Wall to remember fallen soldiers from wars past and present on May 26. Sun sparkled through leafy branches above the somber event, attended by survivors of most if not all conflicts between the Vietnam War and today’s Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Campus suffers major computer network outage
Computer systems across the campus came to an abrupt halt Wednesday afternoon.The network interruption, according to Computer Technical Support Specialist Ben Wilkes, began between 1 and 1:30 p.m.”It was a campus-wide network interruption,” said Wilkes, “and it took the phones down with it.
Artist illuminates trauma, survival

Badminton basks in the glow of season
In addition to the PCC women’s badminton team going undefeated and winning the South Coast Conference championship, Head Coach Bill Sanchez believes that the team’s success has raised the profile of badminton on campus.”Because of the buzz the team has been receiving, badminton is ready to explode on campus,” he said.
Familiar face to alumni departing
After a 19-year career at PCC, the incentive plan brought the idea of early retirement to Irene Aguilera, resource development specialist at Alumni Relations, who is ready to close this chapter in her life and open a new one.Aguilera works at the PCC Foundation to help the college continue to grow through its past.

EDITORIAL: Westerbecks donation greatly appreciated
Following the announcement on May 3 of the generous donation of $4 million from PCC alumnus Robert Westerbeck and his wife Adrienne has left the campus grateful.According to President Mark Rocha, the Westerbecks were PCC people. The couple met and fell in love on the campus while Robert was a student and Adrienne taught music.
Retirement incentive tempts many
PCC will lose 87 members of its faculty, staff, and administration at the end of this semester due to the early retirement incentive offered by the college in an effort to save money and cut costs. A vice president, deans, managers and teachers who have together spent more than a thousand years with PCC are retiring at the end of June.
