The PCC’s men’s soccer team keeps on struggling in the South Coast Conference, after losing against Mt. SAC, 4-2, on Tuesday in a home game.PCC led in the first half, 1-0, however the team came out defensively in the second half, letting the Mounties end up taking the game.

Forward Leonardo Vergara, in a one-and-one situation with the Mounties’ keeper Luis Ocampo, put the Lancers up with a goal off a pass from teammate Hagop Chirshian in the 21st minute.

The Lancers’ defense and midfield played strong during the first 45 minutes to restrain any offensive attempts by the Mounties.

“The first half we had them, [Mounties] couldn’t do anything,” said Lancers’ captain Sergio Rodriguez. “We should have won the game, but we just broke down in the second half.”

Two minutes later, Mounties Camero Sims scored the 2-1 goal, coming from the left side with a strong low shot that ended in the net.

Sims also scored the fourth goal for the Mounties. Lancer Tommy Hancock made a crucial mistake in the defense, giving the ball to the forward, who scored a nice goal, chipping the ball over Der Gevorgian.

“We made stupid mistakes that cost us the game,” said Lancer midfielder Benjamin Martin.
