Thousands join in on the first Pasadena Marathon
As they waited for the countdown right in front of campus, the dedicated participants of the first annual Pasadena Marathon battled the rain, as they prepared for the race to start. Before sunrise on Sunday the racers were ready. The announcer shouted, “Good morning Pasadena! What’s it like to run in the rain?”Within the more than 9,000 participants were students from PCC excited about their involvement in the marathon.
House Fire Closes Down Neighboring Streets in Rescue Attempt
Smoke and flames from a burning house on Del Mar Boulevard was visible from the top floor of Lot 5 on Sunday. Pasadena City Firefighters closed off Del Mar from Bonnie Avenue to Allen Avenue to fight the blaze. More than 15 firefighters were on the scene along with multiple fire trucks and an animal rescue vehicle.

Campus-Wide Wireless Internet Now Available at PCC
Wireless Internet access ports have now been turned on throughout the PCC campus. After its initial launch during the winter intersession, PCC’s wireless service is now in its final stages and is on schedule to be completed within the next couple of weeks.

Softball Gets Blown Away By Cerritos College
The women’s softball team was shut out 8-0 in a five-inning road game against conference rival Cerritos College on Tuesday.The Lancers (13-9, 3-4) were shutout for the second time this season, as Cerritos (21-4-1, 7-0) limited PCC to only two hits, which came in the fourth inning and had five strikeouts in the game.

Just before the women’s basketball team began its regional playoff run, I encountered Lancer Head Coach Joe Peron outside the campus café.He half-jokingly commented on the Courier’s coverage of the team, which had been limited over winter intersession.”Man, we need at least a half-page [in this week’s paper]. We’re the most successful program on this campus in the past 20 years and we don’t even get covered by our school paper,” Peron said.
