Activities Fee Proposal Met With Approval by Board

An initiative to add a student activities fee of $6 to registration was received with wide approval from the Board of Trustees, following an Associated Students presentation on May 7.

Longtime Trustee and Library’s Namesake Shatford Dies at 94

Walter Tyrrel Shatford II, the man whom the library is named after, died at his Pasadena home on May 5 at the age of 94.”He was an incredible man of high standards who valued educational excellence,” said Mary Ann Laun, dean of library services.

Famous Jazz Pianist Jon Mayer Jams With Students at Appearance

Famous jazz pianist Jon Mayer, not to be confused with pop singer John Mayer, led a class and played alongside students at PCC on April 30. “It was just crazy that it was actually happening. He is such a big name,” said Joel Zobrist who accompanied Mayer on drums during his visit.

Badminton’s Top Player Will Miss State Tournament for US Olympic Obligations

PCC badminton’s top player, Priscilla Lun, will be absent from the California Community College Athletic Association’s State Individual Championships on Friday at Irvine Valley College, due to a prior obligation with the US Olympic Development program.Lun will be in Boston playing in the Wilson MIT Boston Open, which is sponsored by USA Badminton.

Baseball’s Season Overshadowed by Errors and Mistakes

Three hits are all that did it. Three small hits that, if measured out end to end, would barely stretch from home to first base. Yet for the Lancer baseball team, three small hits was just another instance where they were unable to patch the leak as they watched one game, and one season, become awash in bitter frustration and unyielding disbelief.

Volleyball Sophomores Set to Tranfer With Scholarships

The premier outside hitter for the PCC volleyball team for the past two seasons, Ashley Marshman, will transfer to Cal Poly Pomona after signing a letter of intent on Thursday. The team’s setter, Vanessa Amran, is accepting a scholarship to play at Whittier College next season.
