Veterans Voice of America will make its debut streaming live online at lancerradio.org on Thursday at noon, according to the show’s host John Samuel.Samuel and student veteran Magdalena Sanchez Curiel will introduce the new student veterans-specific program with an interview of Army veteran, business owner and TV personality Rudy Martinez. Martinez is running for a Los Angeles City Council seat.

Martinez and his opponent, incumbent Councilman Jose Huizar, have recently gained extensive coverage by Los Angeles media, for their very public, sometimes nasty exchanges as the election approaches.

According to Sanchez and Samuel, the students will pose questions related to veterans’ issues as well as get the latest scoop on contention surrounding Martinez’s candidacy.

In addition to owning a restaurant and bar in Eagle Rock, Martinez was host of the Los Angeles-based TV show Flip This House, said Sanchez.

Veterans Voice of America, the brainchild of Samuel, reflects his experience trying to get the services he needed when he was discharged. Its purpose is to inform veterans local and afar-even in other countries-how prepare for civilian life.

“I want [people serving in the military] to call in, ask questions. They have know what and how to ask for services or they can be stopped – even at the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs,” Samuel said.

Lancer Radio plans to stream the VVoA segment live every Thursday from noon – 1 p.m.
