Whether it’s weekend getaways, road trips, or even family vacations, there are numerous benefits to traveling, especially for students. Rose Mary, an online freelance writer for Article Alley wrote, “traveling is refreshing and revitalizing. It is a psychological necessity, especially for people who have stressful jobs.”

Being a student is stressful, since we typically have to juggle responsibilities, obligations, academics, jobs, family, relationships, extracurriculars and so much more.

All my life I have traveled during my summer vacations. It is a time for reflection, evaluation, and future goal setting. I get to see new things, feel different sensations, and meet new people. Time away from the regularity of being a student offers me a different perspective.

In addition, James Brown, another writer on traveling at iSnare.com, supports traveling because it “feeds curiosity.” Traveling offers a portal into a feeling of wonder.

Without the stresses of everyday life, traveling provides ample time to reflect and do things you had no time for. Without the strain of being bogged down by midterms and finals, we’re free to live and explore.

As Location Independent Professionals (LIP) Lea Woodward and her husband, frequent travelers that run their businesses from all around the world, agree wholeheartedly. Woodward says, “The thing about traveling is that it often frees us of our inhibitions; its makes us more willing to try things we otherwise wouldn’t.”

PCC offers study abroad programs, providing an opportunity for students to be “immersed in a new culture, gaining insight into that culture that is impossible to obtain in a classroom,” as stated on their website. It is a chance to experience places that are entirely different from the Pasadena environment, including places like Italy, England, Mexico, Oregon, and Spain.

It does not matter what your reason for traveling is, but it definitely beats spending your summer at home.
