High school football games have returned to PCC. You may think it’s only high school football, but the Pasadena High School football team, which plays every home game at Robinson Field, is happy just to have a decent field to play on. David Flores, a kicker for the Pasadena Bulldogs, acknowledges that the Pasadena High football field is not really in great shape.

“The funds aren’t there to support the football team,” Flores said. Flores loves playing at PCC, and added, “Its feels like home.”

It was a packed house for the Bulldogs as they played against Jordan High School from Long Beach on Friday, Sept. 19.

Anthony Boykins, a fan and a student at Pasadena High says that the PCC stadium is much better than their field on campus.

“Everything is better: the lights, the turf, and it’s even bigger,” Boykins said.

Yvonne Lockett, security for the Bulldogs, also loves the idea that the Bulldogs play their games on a much better field.

“I love it here. We don’t even have bleachers at our field. Parents bring lawn chairs to the games,” Lockett said.

Jordan Head Coach Scott Meyer also said it was great to play at PCC. Jordan played Pasadena on Friday night and defeated the Bulldogs 36-0. Myer said even though he doesn’t live in Pasadena, he is happy to see these kinds of events to get the community involved.

“It’s a nice stadium, its old school. The kids are hyped up,” Myer said.

Even though the Bulldogs lost to the Panthers, the fans stayed until the end of the game. Greg Lane, the brother of the Panther’s offensive coordinator, said that it was exciting to have high school football played at PCC.

“It’s a nice venue,” Lane said.
