The Lancer’s men soccer team notched its first victory against Mt. San Antonio College in three years on Tuesday, winning by an easy 3-0 margin on their opponent’s field. The Lancers scored two goals during the first half of the game including two goals from Sargis Agaronian.

James Hernandez scored the last goal in the eighty-second minute.

Head Coach Cherif Zein had his doubts in the start of the game due to Mt. SAC’s high reputation.

“I was very negative in the beginning,” said Zein. “I was thinking we were not ready.”

The Lancers pulled through though, even when one of their strongest players, midfielder Albrik Tahmasian, limped off the field due to a leg cramp during the second half.

Zein said that his team has been working hard preparing for this match.

“[They] have a lot of heart,” he said.

Assistant Coach Warren Altounian said that this was a good win for the players because they worked hard.

“[This] was one hell of a game,” Altounian said. “[Mt. SAC] is one of the best teams [we will play].”

This win gives the Lancers a 6-1 record on the season, winning their last four matches. Mt. SAC dropped to 7-2-1 after the loss.

PCC’s next game will be at 3 p.m. Friday against Long Beach City College at Robinson Stadium.
