Led by forward Melissa Fudge, who scored four goals, the Lancer women’s soccer team easily beat Los Angeles Valley College 6-2 at the Monarchs’ home field in Van Nuys on Tuesday afternoon. The score was 2-0 at the halftime mark with goals from Fudge and midfielder Maya Kasfy.

Fudge scored on her first shot attempt of the game after a crisp pass from midfielder Sheima Berenji.

Moments later, Kasfy stole the ball from a Valley defender and streaked down the sideline and kicked a hard shot right past the goalie for her goal of the season.

During the second half, the Lancers exploded with four more goals.

Fudge dominated, adding three more goals for a total of four. Fudge’s second goal came off a Caroline Rangel pass.

Fudge’s last two goals were both the result of slick moves, which put the goalie out of position.

Goalie Randi Richardson had nine saves and held a shutout until Valley’s Yerica Maravilla put one on the board late in the second half. Richardson, who came in to play forward toward the end of the game, tacked on the last goal after a quick move that faked out the Monarch goalie.

Sophomore midfielder Cindy Aguillon was given a yellow card after a verbal altercation with a Monarch player.

Aquillon was very vocal throughout the game as she constantly directed her teammates during the match.

Fudge, a Blair High graduate, now has nine goals in six matches this season.

The win brings PCC’s record to 4-2.

Their next match is Friday against Oxnard. The game starts at 1 p.m. at Robinson Stadium.
