Election tampering from the mid-May Associated Student (AS) elections have forced AS leadership to call for a re-election.

Student Affairs Advisor Carrie Afuso worked with PCC’s information technology (IT) department and the Institutional Planning and Research Office (IPRO) to search for any evidence of wrongdoing.

In a subsequent meeting with AS candidates and student body members, Afuso and the Dean of Student Life, Rebecca Cobb, reported that there was in fact election tampering in part, due to additional votes being counted for certain candidates.

Aside from the reported findings of election tampering at the meeting, attending students and administrators discussed details for a re-election as well as measures to safeguard the integrity of the upcoming vote.

Details were spared when discussing the implementation of a two-factor authorization system for the re-election.

The Associated Students re-election vote will start on Thursday, June 6 at 12:01 a.m. and end Friday, June 7 at 11:59 p.m.
