The first meeting of the PCC Board of Trustees “Community Listening Tour” will be held this week in Altadena. The board will be discussing having future meetings in all PCC districts.

The meeting is to be held Wednesday June 20 in the  Altadena Library District Community Room at 600 East Mariposa Street, Altadena.

The last Board of Trustee meeting was interrupted by heated protest, which caused the Board to adjourn to a private room, allowing only a few Courier staff and faculty into the meeting.

Board President and District 1 Trustee Geoffrey Baum said that the board will discuss the locations of upcoming meetings, and hopes to hold each upcoming meetings in a different district.

Baum say that open comment at this weeks meeting will follow standard board procedure. “We will follow our standard procedure with each agenda item allocating 30 minutes for public comment, 5 minutes per speaker. If we have more speakers than time allotted, we may consider other options, including shortening the time per speaker to allow more people a chance to be heard,” Baum said.

Baum also said that, “In the past, these meetings have been more community outreach presentations where we discussed campus programs and other initiatives, but took little or no action during the meeting. “

“We will be discussing the upcoming schedule in detail on Wednesday,” Baum said. “To ensure an open process and to facilitate community observance of district decision making. I hope to have meetings in each trustee area, as we did last year”

“Due to the summer schedule, we are meeting only once a month in July and August…We then hope to work through the entire district in order by trustee area. Area 2 in July, Area 3 in August, and so on,” Baum said.
