The Board of Trustee meeting that was to be the start of the ‘Community Listening Tour’ has been moved back to PCC due to limited space.

The meeting was originally to be held at the Altadena District Library Community Room, at 600 East Mariposa Street, Altadena.  The meeting has been moved to the Creveling Lounge on campus because of limited space available at the Altadena Library. Closed session will begin at 6:00PM, open session staring at 7:00PM.
The meeting will follow the same agenda, and the Board will discuss the location of future meetings and the ‘Community Listening Tour’. The board will also be discussing hiring policy, administration evaluations, and the ASPCC resolutions on advocacy, all with possible action.
The last Board of Trustee meeting was interrupted by heated protest, which caused the Board to adjourn to a private room, allowing only a few Courier staff and faculty into the meeting.
Board President and District 1 Trustee Geoffrey Baum said that the board will discuss the locations of upcoming meetings, and hopes to hold each upcoming meetings in a different district.
Baum says that open comment at this weeks meeting will follow standard board procedure. “We will follow our standard procedure with each agenda item allocating 30 minutes for public comment, 5 minutes per speaker. If we have more speakers than time allotted, we may consider other options, including shortening the time per speaker to allow more people a chance to be heard,” Baum said.
Baum also said that, “In the past, these meetings have been more community outreach presentations where we discussed campus programs and other initiatives, but took little or no action during the meeting. “

“We will be discussing the upcoming schedule in detail on Wednesday,” Baum said. “To ensure an open process and to facilitate community observance of district decision making. I hope to have meetings in each trustee area, as we did last year”

“Due to the summer schedule, we are meeting only once a month in July and August…We then hope to work through the entire district in order by trustee area. Area 2 in July, Area 3 in August, and so on,” Baum said.
