The PCC baseball team used a late game scoring rush in its 7-3 victory over Los Angeles City College on Tuesday, ending its 16-game losing streak in South Coast Conference play. The Lancers broke away from a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning when they scored four runs in a rare offensive burst. Freshman Chris Reyes hit the first of the RBIs when he singled in sophomore Tyler Craig. After outfielder Enrique Reynoso joined Reyes on base with his single to left field, second baseman Jeremy Camacho hit a single up the middle to knock in Reyes. Sophomore Evan Bloem’s single to right field scored both Reynoso and Camacho to cap of the scoring surge.

Starting pitcher Ryan Larson pitched eight innings and allowed three runs. The freshman from South Pasadena struck out five batters and walked two.

The score went back and forth throughout the game as Camacho’s two RBIs and first baseman Michael Flynn’s lone RBI kept the contest close until the eighth.

L.A. City drew first blood in the top of the second by scoring one run, but Flynn’s single to center scored Roderick Martinez in the bottom of the second tied it up.

L.A. City scored again to take the lead in the following inning but PCC didn’t respond until the top of the fourth when Craig scored off a bad throw from L.A. City third baseman Ryan Benabou.

The Lancers were held scoreless until the seventh inning when Camacho drove in his first run to cash in Reynoso.

The win brings the team’s record to 3-19 in SCC play. L.A. City’s record is now also 3-19 and the two teams are tied for last in the conference.
