The women’s soccer team beat LA Harbor College at home on Friday with calculated defense and aggressive ball play.
The match was highlighted by a brilliant goal in the second half from Defender Hallie White, who kicked the ball from just past the midfield line. The ball sailed over the outstretched arms of LA Harbor goalie, Zuri Moraga, and into a nook in the right corner of the goal.
“I was just trying to put it in play, put it in the box. It just went in,†said White.
Pasadena controlled the tempo for much of the game and was never in any serious trouble against the Seahawks who were constantly being pressured by the Lancer defense.  “We did a pretty good job at first, we sped up the momentum,†said defender, Bianca Mercado.
The first goal, made in the first half by White, was on a throw-in assisted by Mid-Fielder Cassandra Orozco.
PCC made a total of 16 shots with 10 of them being shots on goal. The Lancer defense held the Seahawks to zero shots on goal, according to the community college athletic association website.
“We played extremely well. Our defense is so good, it’s creating a lot of opportunities for us, said Coach Randy Lilavois.
The opportunities are numerous. Pasadena leads the overall rankings in goals scored with 32 and is second overall in assists with 22, according to www.cccaastats.org
The women’s soccer team is now 7-2-2 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play.
