The men’s soccer team suffered it’s first loss of the season on Tuesday, losing to LA Mission College 6-1 at Robinson Stadium.

The Lancers got off to a fast start this season by beating Cuyamaca 4-2, San Diego Mesa 4-0 and Fullerton 2-0 in recent weeks.

Despite the hot start there was very little evidence of that in this game. LA Mission took an early 1-0 lead despite the effort by PCC freshman goalie Ramiro Martinez, who was constantly under attack at the start of the game.

The goal by Oscar Ramos came off a deflection of PCC freshmen defender Derek Olson. It was the first of three goals in the match for the LA Mission sophomore.

The Lancers, on the other hand, could not get their game going; they had few chances in the first half.

Their best opportunity came on Irving Rosales’ shot, which deflected and sailed over the crossbar. That was the closest the PCC freshman forward got to extending his three game scoring streak.

The halftime score was 3-0.

PCC Men’s Soccer Coach Edgar Manvelyan made many substitutions in the second half. The most notable changes were removing Ramiro Martinez and Oscar Rosales.

Martinez now has an 80 percent save percentage through four games and a GAA of 1.15.

Rosales leads the team with nine goals and shares the team lead in overall points with sophomore forward Gor Kirakosyan.

The second yellow card on PCC’s freshmen forward-midfielder Michael Alcaraz early in the second half complicated the game. Despite being down a player, the team had more scoring opportunities in the second half.

The Lancers’ lone goal was scored on a penalty kick by freshman midfielder Vahagn Manoyan.

LA Mission sophomore forward Michael Saldivia scored twice in the second half. LA Mission improved its overall record to 1-1-1, while PCC dropped to 3-1-0.

The Lancers next game is Friday against College of the Desert at
