Campus police are hunting for a suspect in a knifepoint robbery that occurred in the parking lot near the Boone Sculpture Garden last week.
Officer Michael DeSpain said that the male victim reported that a man put a hunting knife to his throat in Lot 5, level 3, on November 18 at around 6 p.m. and demanded money and credit cards. At first, he thought it was a prank.
“He thought it was a joke, turned around and found that it wasn’t,” said DeSpain.
The victim handed the suspect three $100 bills before the suspect grabbed a gift card and credit card, according to DeSpain.
The suspect then fled south toward the bungalows and out of sight.
Campus police issued a crime bulletin describing the suspect as a six-foot-two male weighing approximately 170 pounds, and possibly in his early 20s. He was wearing a royal blue jacket, blue flat-brimmed Dodgers baseball cap, white t-shirt, navy blue jeans, and black tennis shoes.
Campus police searched the school grounds while Pasadena Police checked the surrounding off-campus areas, but neither agency was able to locate the suspect.
Campus police say that the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call (626) 585-7484.
